Melting restarts in earnest

I just chatted to the field team. They remain in very good spirit. The melt has been very limited by cloud and low temperatures over the last week, and there have even been flurries of fresh snow. However, the temperature is rising, the sun is shining and the melt is back on. This is good news for the team, since they pull out in just over a week’s time, but they will be working even more flat out until they leave. Here’s hoping that their hard work is rewarded by lots of information on the awakening of the slumbering ice algae.
